Haifa, Schindler Survivor & Home Hospitality Weekend

After time apart and reuniting back together, we had some time as one group before we head off to our Home Hospitality weekend.  We started off in Haifa by seeing the Baha'i Gardens and learned all about the Baha'i Faith.  From there we went to an amazing overlook by Mt Carmel before heading to a Druze Hospitality Lunch.  Everyone had a wonderful hafla (feast) all together and then heard from a Druze all about their religion, history and the culture.  After a spectacular meal, we went back to Mt Carmel where we had the pleasure to hear from a Holocaust Survivor, Zev Kedem .  Not only did he survive this atrocity but was also on Schindler's List so the students were fascinated by his story and asked some fantastic questions.  He was cordial as usual and just so personable that the students connected with him. Afterward, we parted and said goodbye until Sunday since everyone is spread out around Israel and will have a wonderful Shabbat experience with their host families.  Shabbat Shalom and next post will be on Sunday July 7th when we are all back together in Ramat Negev!
