Visiting Nitzana

Today we had the opportunity the opportunity to visit Nitzana.  This is a settlement and education youth village in the Ramat Negev region.  Everyone had the chance to visit their solar area, learn about innovative ideas using the current environment, etc.  They also had the opportunity to make mini soloar cars out of legos and had quite the success rate.  In addition, everyone was able to relax in the sun & local pool, visit another settlement along the Egyptian border and then finish the evening with a campfire!  After such wonderful hospitality in Ramat Negev, we will be heading toward the middle of the country with Tel Aviv & Jerusalem to finish off this amazing journey.

"Learning Hebrew fast
On our quixotic journey
Through the Holy Land

Sitting side by side
While laughing and sharing jokes
We all start to schnatz (nap)

Landscape flashing by
We observe the hills of Israel
Through half-lidden eyes"

Hanging out with Israelis
They are pretty cool

Solar energy
We learned about it today'
It was perplexing

So close to Egypt
We're almost in Africa
Fifty feet away

We ate tomatoes
Grown in Negev Desert
So very scrumptious

We'll help at a school
The children will be five years
Language barriers

Only one week left
To Jerusalem we go
Also Tel Aviv"
